Frequently Asked Questions
Why is CCHS using this new system for AP Exams? And why is it different from other schools?
CCHS partners with local area schools who have been chosen by College Board to be part of a cohort of only 800 schools around the country to pilot this system and provide valuable feedback to College Board. This system and it's special deadlines only applies to the 800 schools in the pilot this year, but will be in all schools nationwide in 2019-2020. We'll be giving College Board LOTS of feedback about what works and doesn't work, please be patient with us and them!

Why do I need to JOIN an Exam Section on myap.collegeboard.org? What's the benefit to me?
By JOINING the online Exam Only Section on https://myap.collegeboard.org, you will not have to bubble in by hand your personal information on the physical exam materials. It will be pre-printed and personalized for you ahead of time. This will lead a shorter test day experience and to less issues accessing scores in July. It will also provide more accurate transfer of score reports to colleges and universities. (Reminder that for the actual order to be completed, payment for your exam(s) must be submitted.)
Beginning in 2019-2010, this process will also include all sorts of course/exam preparation materials for students and teachers to use - including the ability for teachers to develop quizzes and tests using College Board approved and vetted AP exam questions.

What time do I need to report for my exam?
Check in for morning exams will be promptly at 7:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. for afternoon exams and will take approximately 30 minutes. Exam administration for morning exams begins at 8:00am, and for afternoon exams begins at 12:15pm. Students who report after exam administration begins will not be admitted. No exceptions. Exams will take approximately 4 hours (calculated from the check in time). Please notify your coaches of AP Test dates and times and plan accordingly. Students will not be allowed to leave the test early.
How do I know when the exam is? How do I know how long the exam is?
Exam calendar is posted on the Calendar on this website. Exams are either Morning (AM) exams or Afternoon (PM) exams. On average, exams last 4 hours (calculated from check in time.) Students should notify coaches, parents, etc. accordingly since no early dismissal is possible from the exam.
This same policy applies to students testing with extended time. Students with extended time do not have to use all the extended time provided to them, but they must use the regular allotted exam time and cannot leave before the standard time has passed.

Where do I get an admission ticket?
Students do not need admission tickets to enter the AP Exam testing facilities. However, each student does need a CURRENT picture id, such as a school ID or a driver's license. Without picture ID students will not be allowed to enter the room.
What may I bring with me to the exam room?
Students may NOT bring into the exam room any type of backpack or bag, including purses. No cell phones or electronic communication device is allowed. No iPods or MP3 players are allowed. No highlighters are allowed. Students may not bring bottled water/drinks or food to the testing room. (See Test Site Regulations for more information.) Students MUST bring a current picture ID, pencils, pens in blue or black ink, and a calculator if applicable.
How do I figure out where my exam will be administered?
Information on testing locations are posted on "Exam Day Info?" on this site and open the file posted there. Location information is listed based on the alphabetical order of the exams.
Do I have to wear my uniform to the test?
No. We encourage students to dress comfortably for the exams. That may include layering to be able to accommodate for air conditioning in the rooms, etc.
When do I need to report to the testing room?
For morning exams, students need to report to the testing room at 7:30am. For afternoon exams students need to report to the testing room beginning at 11:45am and no later than 12:15pm. We encourage students to be on time for check in since there is identification information that must be completed before testing can begin which adds additional time to the testing time. For security reasons, students will not be admitted to the room once the exam materials have been opened. Late arrivals who are not admitted to the room are considered 'no shows' and are not eligible for the partial refund.
Do I need to excuse my absence from school during the exam?
Your school will receive a copy of an attendance roster from the exam so you will automatically be excused for the entire day. You are responsible for all school work missed during your absence for AP Exams. If you CHOOSE to return to class, you must be dressed in Spirit Wear.
What if I want to cancel my AP Exam registration? Can I get a refund?

After October 25 and before midnight on February 28, 2019 cancellation will result in only the cost of administration being refunded ($40). After February 28, no refunds are possible. What if I finish the exam early? Can I leave the exam early?

If a student leaves without permission, their exam will be removed and submitted separately to Colleg Board. Their score will be cancelled and no refund will be possible. Exams are approximately 4.5 hours. Please be prepared for the duration of the exam.

What if I can't make the exam? Can I reschedule?
There are provisions for students who fall ill during or right before testing. In case of such an emergency, please email apexamservices@gmail.com or call the emergency assistance line at 855-663-8348 IMMEDIATELY. A doctor's note will be required. IMMEDIATE contact is crucial due to the deadlines involved in ordering make up materials. Immediate contact is defined as 'on the day of the originally scheduled exam.'
College Board is extremely strict regarding qualifying for rescheduling an AP exam to the Late Testing (make-up window.) In addition, the reason for requesting late testing must also meet the local school guidelines for excused absences. Approved reasons to reschedule an exam include: extreme illness (hospitalization or medical care, a doctor's note will be required), bereavement, court appearance, or conflict with another AP exam. Students are NOT eligible for Late Testing for reasons such as: family trips, conflict with an in-class exam or activity, having selected the incorrect AP exam subject when you submitted your order. In all cases, please contact apexamservices@gmail.com or the emergency assistance line at 855-663-8348 IMMEDIATELY so that your request can be reviewed within the timeline set by College Board to order the Late Testing exam IF you are approved.
